Southern Visions

In these original prints of these photographic images I seek to present the image that comes through the lens.  A straight photographic print is produced.  What you see in the print is what I saw through the lens.  There is no digital manipulation.  I like to maintain the power of the eyewitness account.  the place or person depicted in the photograph once cast a shadow on the negative used to in turn cast a shadow on the photographic paper.  In essence, there is a definitive indexical relationship - the place or person was once there, as was the camera and film.  i seek honesty and modesty.

“Southern Visions” reveals influences from the past.  Throughout the history of my work, i have made journeys throughout the South - especially from North Carolina to Florida.  The images are somewhere between landscapes, artifacts, and portraits.

Although I, like most, shoot digital work also, I have rarely published or exhibited it.  The work I exhibit here has all been created with analog devices and have been printed by hand using old-school methods many years ago before i changed professions from fine arts photographer to investor.  I hope you enjoy my view into the southern rural USA, my home.
